Playa de las Americas, always a smash hit

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Arona council have worked hard to add new dimensions to the nightlife magnet of Playa de las Americas, people are now realising it has so much more to offer that endless beaches and clubs and bars where you can dance all night. Now the council have come up with their most ambitious project yet - to stage the Davis Cup tennis semi final between Spain and the U.S.A in September.

Well with the Magma conference centre established and europe’s biggest water kingdom, Siam Park, about to open, this is a very happening area. The plan is to stage the tennis from September 19 to 21 at the Olympic football stadium. A court with full support facilities can be set up to allow 14,700 fans to witness the games best male players in the heat of top competition, and at the moment Spain has the best in the World in Rafa Nadal.

There are three rival Spanish bids to stage the matches, Benidorm, Madrid and Gijon, the Spanish tennis federation should make a decision in the next few weeks. Whatever happens, it shows the ambition that exists in the area, to make it a top attraction for all sorts of entertainment.

It’s no wonder that more and more people are taking a new look at Playa de las Americas and seeing that it is ideally placed, has great beaches, and just a short walk from the beach, there is a tranquil expanse of new developments offering all the best in building standards. Tenerife Invest has a wide choice of top apartments, bungalows and studios in this area.

If the tennis tournament is secured, it will give world wide television audiences the chance to see what Playa de las Americas has to offer, but you don’t have to wait until then, have a look for yourself, or in some of the other attractive areas in the south of Tenerife at Tenerife Invest.

La Caleta, a gold medal resort

Monday, April 21st, 2008

The sun beamed down, the sea was alive with colour, and the breeze blew gently across from the hills to the beach. La Caleta, had never looked better, and for those with time to relax in their sunbeds or on El Chiringuito beach, relaxation was the name of the game. But for 200 hardy souls, male and female, there was a punishing schedule ahead of them as the first Costa Adeje triathlon took place on Saturday afternoon.

Triathlon

They gathered at the beach and launched themselves into the surf in groups of 50 at a time, with small boats and rescue staff on hand just in case, as they made light work of the 750 metre swim. Emerging and running up to the car park area, they peeled off wetsuits to reveal vests and shorts, and pulled on socks and trainers to set off on a 20 km bike ride up hill towards the Costa Adeje gold course and back down, the first of several laps.

TriathlonSingle minded concentration meant they had little time to appreciate the sheer beauty of this popular fishing village that has grown tastefully to include modern and luxurious developments, looking out to sea.  Just along from the upmarket Bahia del Duque, this area retains a genuine Canarian charm, and the palm lined roads are frawing more and more investors to enjoy it’s charms.

Those thoughts would have to wait for later, as far as the athletes were concerned, another quick change in the central compound and they were into the last phase, a 5 km run, again up and round the challenging hilly route. As limbs and lungs struggled for the last push, they began to hit the last stretch and burst over the finishing line. Mens winner Mustapha Akoudad clocked an amazing 1 hour 11 minutes and 35 seconds and womens winner Patricia  Diaz  was just behind in 1.22.23.

It was an amazing event and is to become an annual part of the La Caleta calender. It’s just another of the attractions of this popular area. Tenerife Properties has a fine selection of apartments and new developments here for you to view. They will guide you through the viewing and buying process, this is one event you can take at your own pace, but once you have moved in you will certainly feel like a real winner.

It’s going to be a Tenerife Invest 2008

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Welcome to the new year. Call it a wish, a dream or a resolution, but now is the time to make your home in the sun a reality. What are you waiting for, a sign? Well look no further than the Tenerife government, who have just pledged 80 million euros to spruce up four of the main tourist zones on the island. Arona, Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz and Santiago del Teide will share the cash investment over the next three years to keep Tenerife at the forefront of the holiday and property investment markets.

Puerto de la Cruz in the north is a popular base for rural tourism and just a short hop away from the capital Santa Cruz and has been allocated a 24.8 million euro slice of the pie. Coming down the west coast, Santiago del Teide will use it’s 10 million euros to improve the access to the more laid back resorts of Playa del Arena and it’s scenic gem, Los Gigantes. If you want to see what a good quality 2 bed apartment looks like in Los Gigantes, have a look at our latest properties list.

Down in the south, Adeje is being showered with 22.5 million euros and this will not only be used to enhance the beach based splendour of Playa de las Americas but also the lesser known inland villages such as Piedra Hincada, check out a 4 bed town house among our newest property attractions.

Arona is probably the busiest of all the resort areas but again it has lots more to offer than most people are aware of. The government have earmarked 22.5 million for road and access projects in this area. Los Cristianos is well known for its large beaches and we have a selection of great apartments here but cast an eye over a two bed duplex in Parque de la Reina, conveniently placed just along the coast.

A lot of money is being spent to ensure that Tenerife maintains it’s position as a top holiday destination and a wise investment, maybe this is the year that you will finally make the big move.
